It is true that Band 12 support was removed with the update to Android 5.1. This was a carrier requirement over concerns about Band 12 connections by phones that are not capable of VoLTE. On non-VoLTE phones like the MOTO E, your phone could even show you have a signal, but would be unable to complete a call. I have used my TMobile phone on SXM. There were very few places where I could get a signal. And the only carrier that worked was Lime. If you have a smart phone, try downloading an app like viber or magic jack - you can use wifi, where available, to make calls. Or you can rent a phone while you are on the island. We still don't have RCS on OnePlus 6, you can activate the service and everything seems to be working, but no-one in the entire world have been able to receive or send RCS messages on the OnePlus 6 with the stock OS.
